Dead Tree Limbs Lead to Pests

Unmaintained Trees Invite Unwanted Pests

Large, unmaintained trees might offer shade and beauty, but they can also attract serious pest problems. In Utah County cities like Spanish Fork, Salem, and Payson, pests love to hide in deadwood, overgrown limbs, and decaying trunks.

Bark beetles are especially dangerous to pines and spruces, boring into the wood and spreading quickly. Aphids and scale insects suck sap from leaves and branches, weakening trees and attracting ants. Meanwhile, carpenter ants and termites can infest rotting wood, threatening nearby structures.

When trees are not trimmed or properly cared for, these pests find safe places to nest and multiply. Over time, infestations can spread to healthy trees or even your home.

Regular tree trimming and removal of dead or diseased limbs is the best defense. If your tree hasn't been looked at in years, it might be time to call a professional.

Don’t wait until pests move in—keep your trees clean and your property pest-free.
